      THE PEOPLE OF YAHWEH VERSES CARNAL NATURE

                                   

 

1 Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,

2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

2:9 But ye (YOU) are a (a)chosen generation a, (b) royal priesthood, an (c)holy nation, a (d)peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

(a) Deu. 10:15, 1 Pet. 1:2,

(b) Ex. 19:5,6; Rev. 1:6 5:10;

(c) John 17:19, 1 Cor. 3:17, 2 Tim. 1:9,

(d) Deu. 4:20, 7:6, 14:2, 26:18,19, Acts 20:28, Eph. 1:14, Titus 2:14.

>>Now, lets see WHO would like to be called "The People of God"; a "Chosen Generation", a "Royal Priesthood", an "Holy Nation", and a "Peculiar People".

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye (YOU) will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

19:6 And ye (You) shall be unto Me a kingdom(heb.4467) of priests(heb.3548), and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

In the Hebrew:

4467; mamlakah, from 4427; dominion, i.e. (abstr.) the estate (rule) or concr.) the country (realm):--kingdom, king's reign, Royal.

3548; kohen, act. part. of 3547; lit. one officiation, a priest; aslo (by courtesy) an acting priest (although a layman):- cheif ruler, x own, priest, prince, principal officer.

Leviticus 10:9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle (temple) of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

10:10 And that ye (YOU) may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

>>Also read Ezekiel 44:22-24; The "Priest" was commanded to not drink wine nor strong drink when they went in the Tabernacles/Temple that they may put a difference between HOLY and UNHOLY. The Priest was to SERVE in the Temple EVERY DAY. So, now what? Where is this Temple? and Who is the Priest?

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye (YOU) are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is Holy, which temple ye(YOU) are.

>> YOU are the Tabernacle of God, your body, and drinking wine/strong drink defiles the Tabernacles!

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

>> No where does it say that any of these things can be or should be done in "moderation". If you steal, your a thief, if you covet you're a covetous, if you drink you're a drunkard, and so on and so on.... God's Kingdom is made up of HOLY PEOPLE that HE dwells in. Let’s read on...

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye (you) shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of  which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

>> The works of the flesh... wow... Can anyone tell me that some of these things done in "moderation" are OK. Well, let’s take uncleanness as an example. If you're just unclean a little is that OK? Or maybe you just hate a few people, or you use witchcraft in a moderate way.... IS IT OK?

1 Thessalonians 4:4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and Honor;

4:5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the heathens which know not God.

4:7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

>> God wants His people to put a difference between Holy and Unholy. To be separated from the world.

Leviticus 20:24 But I have said unto you, ye (YOU) shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the Lord your God, which have separated you from other people.

>>Moving right along... Let’s see what scriptures we can come up with that tells us its ok to drink alcohol:

Proverbs 20:1 (a) Wine is a mocker (heb.3887), strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived (heb.7686) thereby is not wise.

(a) Prov. 23:29-30, Isaiah 28:7, Hosea 4:11

In the Hebrew:

Mocker: 3887, luwts, a prim. root; prop. to make mouths at, i.e. to scoff: hence (from the effort to pronounce a foreign language) to interpret, or (gen.) intercede:- ambassador, have a derision, interpreter, make a mock, mocker, scorn (-er,-ful).

Deceived: 7686, shagah, a prim. Root; to stray (caus. mislead) usually (fig.) to mistake, espec. (mor.) to transgress; by extens. (through the idea of intoxication) to reel, (fig.) be enraptured:--(cause to) go astray, deceive, err, be ravishing, sin through ignorance, (let, make to) wander.

>> Wine is a scorner! Do not sin through ignorance! It will cause you to transgress God's laws through deception! His laws to put differences between Holy and Unholy...

Proverbs 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner (heb. 3887) is an abomination to men.

Proverbs 23:27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

23:28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

23:29 Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

23:30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

>> They that drink wine, strong drink, mixed wine! They are the ones who have woe, sorrow, contentions, babblings, wounds without cause, and redness of eyes!

23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

23:32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

23:33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

>> Some how these 3 have something in common, they seem to come up in the same sentences all the time... drinking, strange women, and uttering perverse things...

Proverbs 23:19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.

23:20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:

23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

Proverbs 31:3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

31:4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes(heb.7336) strong drink:

In the Hebrew. Prince; 7336; razan; a prim. root: probably to be heavy, i.e. (fig.) Honorable: -Prince, Ruler.

31:5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

>> It is not for KINGS, or PRINCES to drink???? WHY? Why are only the common sinners allowed to drink? Why is everyone in Royalty, including the Priesthood told NOT TO DRINK? Forget the Law? How can dinking "a little wine" make us forget the Law?

31:6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish (heb. 6), and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts (heb. 4751).

In the Hebrew: Perish, 6; abad, a prim root. to wander away, i.e. lose oneself; by impl. to perish (cause destroy.):-

Heavy Hearts; 4751; marah, from 4843; bitter (lit. or fig.) also (as noun) bitterness, discontent...

31:7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

>> Well, that was pretty clear who was to drink and not to drink; If you are bitter and discontent, or ready to die, by all means... DRINK and remember your misery no more!

BUT, is that for the People of God? Are we called to such end? Those of us that believe in God are called to be a Royal Priesthood, a HOLY people not given to wine, or strong drink but to be filled with the HOLY Spirit.

Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of God is.

>>Read Proverbs 20:1 (above)

5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is unsaveness/excess (heb.810); but be filled with the Spirit;

Isaiah 28:7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

>> WE are called to be a Holy, Royal Priesthood! and what are we doing? erring through wine and strong drink? Are WE as God's Holy people not showing the heathens the differences between CLEAN AND UNCLEAN?

Isaiah 28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

Isaiah 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith God, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

>> Lets read on...

1 Peter 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober (gr.3524), and rest your hope fully upon the favor that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

In the Greek: Sober 3524; nephalios, or 3525; sober, i.e. circumspect, vigilant. 3525; nepho, to abstain from wine (keep sober) i.e. be discreet- sober, on watch

1:14 As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;
1:15 But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
1:16 Because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

>> As we read earlier, that being deceived by wine and strong drink mean to "sin through ignorance". Read verse 14 above, DO not conform yourself to the former lust in your ignorance, but BE HOLY.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

>> Be on watch! As a King or Prince over his kingdom, or a Priest over the people of God!

1 Peter 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles/heathen, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

>> Speaking evil of them that do not run with the crowd that drinks, revels, riots, and all that is abominable.

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

>> Know ye not that YOU are the TEMPLE of God? Watch and pray that the devil doesn't deceive you through wine and strong drink...

1 Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

5:7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

1 Thessalonians 4:12 That ye (you) may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

>> WE are the People of God, we are to walk in the Light, not in the Darkness. We are to be Sober, stand firm, and show forth His Praises. There is a fine line between DARKNESS AND LIGHT. We are to cast off even the WORKS of darkness, we are not to ride the fence and use Alcohol in "moderation", it’s the works of darkness, the forerunner, the beginning of SIN! That is how we are deceived into drinking...

Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

5:22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

5:23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

>> Here it states that it is not for Mighty men to drink.

1 Timothy 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

>> A man of God, that wants to teach God's people is not to be "given" to wine. He is not to drink wine! Also read Titus 1:5-9

Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

2:6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

2:7 In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

2:8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

2:12 Teaching us that, denying wickedness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and reverently, in the present age;

>> Here again, We are to shew a pattern of good works, uncorruptness, sound speech, denying worldly lust, by living SOBER; abstaining from wine.

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

3:7 In the which ye (you) also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him:

>>Mortify the members of your body, put off the OLD MAN, put on the NEW MAN in knowledge after the image of HIM that created us! BE YE HOLY.

Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in God, that ye (YOU) henceforth walk not as other heathens walk, in the vanity of their mind,

4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of God, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

5:24 And they that are the Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

>> Let us Walk in the Spirit, giving no provision for the FLESH. Let us be filled with the HOLY SPIRIT.

Romans 13:14 But put ye (YOU) on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.

>>  It is not for Kings, Princes, Mighty Men, Priest, Nazarites, nor any "servant"  or "worker" or "Leader" in the Body of the Jesus Christ to drink fermented/red wine (which moveth) mixed wines, or strong drink.

Drinking is the works of the flesh, fruits of darkness, in which we should take no part. What fellowship hath Light with Darkness? It is time we wake up, and stop riding the fence. CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY whom you will serve- Are you called to be a Royal Priesthood? A Holy People?

Let us put off the CARNAL actions of Men. And become the Temple that God desires to dwell in!
